I have been in the broadcast industry for  38+ years and have been editing video for 30+ years. I have experience of sound and camerawork disciplines which has enhanced my editing skills and knowledge. I benefited from working alongside news journalists as an editor and cameraman in my early career - this helped develop a keen narrative  and  instinctive story sense. Clients appreciate my comic timing and my ability to think laterally when problem solving an edit...I like to think I combine creativity and technical ability. I am a guitar nerd and relax by rocking out - an interest in music helps me with music editing...well that's my excuse. I have had some of my original music used in regional tv (news and sports coverage and documentaries )... that was quite a thrill. 

I am an online and an offline editor and I use Avid Media Composer as my preferred weapon of choice.

• I have my own kit capable of running the latest version of Media Composer but in the past couple of years logging in to facility systems seems the way to go for remote - although I can still rock a standalone drive or two if required e.g a small job that doesn't need network storage.

• I am conversant with Photoshop. Mind you everyone is now thanks to AI. I like to tickle DaVinci Resolve too but it is just a tickle. A small one. Edited a community 90' documentary on Resolve (shot and produced it too) and that worked out great. Went down well at the village premiere. And I won a raffle prize. Didn't have a raffle at the BAFTAs...

• Thanks to the Exec Producer and the show creator of The Cube I was awarded a Craft Bafta in 2011 as well as a beer fridge. Really. I think the beer fridge was a superb accolade that brought tears to my eyes and despairing groan from my liver.

• I am mostly not too grumpy for an old bloke... you get a lot of experience (and creativity) with me.
